Whew, is the only word that comes to mind, well that and gratitude. I wrote a story about a little raccoon living in the forest beside a big blue house. I printed it out on card stock, bound it with ribbon and gave it to my great nieces for Christmas in 2005, a few years later I wrote another story where I used them as characters in the story. Again printed it off on card-stock and this time bound it with plastic rings. The girls loved the book and their parents read it to them many times. The next book was about the little raccoon’s 6th birthday party and I included all of my great nieces nephews, grandchildren and all the little ones of my friends too. I started writing the 4th book when my twin grandchildren arrived from Ethiopia. I tried for years to draw the little raccoon but I was not able to. I asked a lot of friends and family if they could draw the raccoon, I appealed to lots of artist on Etsy to draw the raccoon and either they were too expensive or the just did not capture her.

Manni Moe and Mama

As a last-ditch effort I sent a plea out on my BeckLee Cottage facebook page for an artist to draw the raccoon. I heard from Ela in Israel she sent me a sample and I was in love with her drawing of the little raccoon. She illustrated the book and is working on the next books coming out soon about the little raccoon named Manni.
