This week we feature Dragonfily Expressions and I am IN LOVE with this shop, Rebecca from the Crafting Place suggested Dragonfly Expressions. I am so happy that she did.. I am attracted to her shop like a bee to a flower,if I was a bee I would be confused by the delicate yet realistic flower creations. Read on about another fantastic Canadian crafter. Best wishes becklee
My name is Chantal, I’m french Canadian from the beautiful Province of Québec! I lived in Montréal for many years and in 1997 I moved to Ontario – I had to learn to speak and write english! Now, I’m currently living in the beautiful village of Rockwood!
2. What do you like about where you live now?
I just LOVE Rockwood! Even though we had new construction happening…Rockwook kept is “small town” feel – The people are warm and welcoming! My house is 2 minutes from a beautiful conservation area…this parc is breathtaking! I like to go for walks and take photographs of flowers! I guess I get alot of my inspiration from these walks!
3. Do you work outside of the home?
I do not work outside my home! I appreciate this situation very much and I’m not taking it for granted! Circumstances in life may change so, I embrace my situation to the fullest!
4. What inspires you?
As I already mentioned…Walks in the park are inspiring for me….But I have to be honnest, I get most of my inspiration from my clients! Sometime they inquire about things I don’t have and It kind of push me to go outside my “comfort zone” and create! For exemple…a couple weeks ago a lovely Bride-to-be inquired about bouquets for her centerpieces…I’ve never put my flowers on stems before – I took the plunge, bought everything I need to make a bouquet and I did it! I’m so please with the end result! Now I’m working on my second bouquet!
5. How did you begin with your art?
6. Are you more creative in the morning or evening?
Mmmm…This is a good question! I would say, it all depends on my moods! I’m up every morning at 5:00am…I like to take care of my house chores first and then I can start creating! I usually make flowers for my orders in the morning…Lately I’ve been creating new designs in the evening – after dinner and when hubby and I are settling into our favorites hobbies!
7. What do you do for fun?
Well…I’m an avid reader! I’m in the middle of reading the fantastic collection of the Outlander by Diana Gabaldon! I enjoy cooking very much and I love spending hours at little cafés with my girlfriends and talk about everything and nothing.
8. How would you describe your experience with Etsy?
My experience with Etsy so far? Oh! I just love it! Etsy is a FANTASTIC community of many, many talented artists!
9. Do you participate in any Etsy teams?
OH! My Goodness…YES! I think I’m in way too many teams! And I have 6 invitations to teams pending…I’m also Captain for The Crafty Housewives Team! As a team member I try to give my best with participations…But I find it challenging at times!
10. Do you sell your products on other sites?
Yes I do…But I’m NOT experiencing the same success that I have on Etsy!
11. Do you sell in Etsy BNR’s? What do you like or dislike about the experience?
I do sell on BNRs! Stef from Guforbardo had got me started! I was so lost the first time! But it’s in those BNRs that I started to get more sales and not just BNR sales! I think sales increased drastically from re-listing my products everyday…I got to be within the first pages of search ALL the time! So, BNR for me has been a positive experience not just saleswise but I got to get to know many Etsy seller on a more peronal side and it’s just gives me a warm feeling!
My recommended shops:
