I just found out that the Enchanted Acres duo is now a proud member of the fabulous Northwest Treasure Chest Etsy Team. Find them here. http://nwtreasurechest.wordpress.com/
I found this cute shop while spending time in the Etsy ‘Buy and Replace” Treasuries. After exploreing their shop I think everyone needs one of the cute fleece hats. Learning more about the artist is what makes these interviews so much fun. There is so much diversity at Etsy, it is great to learn about the artistic process. Etsy is a family. Thanks to Lorenda and Chris for sharing.
This is one of the woodworking pieces that has so much character. I wish I had something like it when I sewed.
Where is your hometown?
Small Town of Monroe, Washington State
What do you like about where you live now?
We love where we live, the pretty green Forests and the breathtaking views of the mountains around us(the Northern Cascades). It’s true about what you have heard about our tulip fields here and the many many Rhododendrons they are just stunning! We are very close to the Puget Sound and whale watching.
Tell us a little about your daily life?
I am a stay at home mom now, which is a blessing. Our daughter is grown and very independent. My son(our teenager) has many activities that keeps us on our toes. So my mornings start out taking care of my hubby and son getting them to work and school. I like to talk to other artist’s on Etsy in my mornings. Then I spend a little time with our very pretty little Bouncy Black Lab Annie. Then I usually try to escape into my studio to do some creating, which I love. That always seems to go very quickly, then it’s back to other craziness.
How did you get started with Etsy?
Etsy was being featured on a Local News broadcast during the worst period of the economy problems. They were doing this feature on a lady executive that had lost her job, she was unemployed for one year and couldn’t find a job. A friend told her about Etsy, she made beautiful ceramics as a hobby and decided to give it a go. She started making enough to pay her expenses. Well that inspired me, I figured if she can share her craft with the world; why not me.
What inspires you?
Wow that is a big question. I get inspiration from the beauty of where we live to when I walk in a fabric shop, I get so excited, ideas just start dancing around in my head.
How did you begin with your art?
I grew up watching my mom and grandmother sew. My mom always made all of my dresses growing up and making toys for children that wasn’t going to have a Christmas. I knew then I wanted to be able to make my own special creations. My mom is who taught me how to sew, and I still go to her for advice of course.
What do you do for fun?
Well I often find myself on an unplanned hikes with my son and his crazy dog. I love to go to new places and explore. We love to go fishing and camping. I also like to do girly things with my friends and mom.
How would you describe your experience with Etsy?
Very fun! We love making our craft for others to enjoy. Etsy has a lot of ways to help you do that. We especially like meeting people on Etsy that lives around the world, Fantastic!
What advice would you give to a Etsy beginner?
Are you on any Etsy teams? If so what do you like about Etsy teams?
Currently we are just on the Etsy Promo Love(EPL) and we think it’s awesome. We also watch and are involved with Sneak Attacks. We would like to join other teams, that is definitely on our list. Teams are great because everybody is helping each other out! We just applied to Northwest Treasure Chest Etsy Team last night:).
If you curate BNR’s would you describe the process in a nutshell?
We have not curated a BNR, but admire and appreciate all that they do.
Do you sell your products on other sites, or have blogs if so list the links.
