Our feature this week is the wonderful Magnesina fine art photograpy shop from Poland. Etsy is a microcosm of the world, it is so much fun to meet other artists from around the world. Magnesina is a brilliant photographer and her photos take my breath away. She captures the essence of each molecule of the items she photographs. I take pictures but she creates art! Please welcome and read all about Agnieszka / Magnesina.
Where is your hometown?
I was born in Poland, Poznan in 1987 and since that day I still live here.
What do you like about where you live now?
My country surprises me everyday, I like the mixture of cultural, historical and political spheres, every minute is interesting here. I adore the variety of landscape, nature goods, weather and temperate climate. Every little part of living here can be inspiring.
Tell us a little about your daily life.
I do not use any day-scheme or week-scheme, I strive to do what I have to do, and then I can focus on my passions (not only photography of course!).
How did you get started with Etsy?
I don’t remember how I found Etsy, but I fell in love at the first sight. I was delaying a long time to open my own shop, but suddenly on Oct 02, 2009 the time has come 🙂
What inspires you?
Almost everything. Mostly nature, people and human emotions, architecture, weather, simple little things around me…
How did you begin with your art?
It’s a very difficult question for me, I had to dust off my photography memories… When I was a little girl I had a simple compact camera and I took many photos with it. I remember, that I often borrowed a digital camera from my older sister, but I’ve got my first digital camera (Canon Powershot A520) in 2006 and I called it ‘my baby’ 🙂 I’ve learned a lot with it during three years. I also used an old analog Zenit. In December 2008 I finally bought myself a DSLR and my photographs became more professional. It’s amazing how a lens can bring colours, light, bokeh and quality.
What do you do for fun?
I dance, cycle, swim, create jewelry, play with kids, listen to my favorite music, spend time with my family and friends… and take photographs 🙂
How would you describe your experience with Etsy?
I run my shop from over a year, but I think that my experience with Etsy is still too small. Sure I’ve learned a lot during these months, but I know I’m on a long way to understand how it works.
What advice would you give to a Etsy beginner?
Stay visible: list new items daily, create treasuries, comment on the Storque, visit forums and maintain social network. For me the turning point was joining two Etsy teams: POLetsy and CurationNation. I’ve got huge support from these amazing people!
Are you on any Etsy teams? If so what do you like about Etsy teams?
Do you spend any time in the Etsy buy and replace treasuries? If so any thoughts about your experience.
My POLetsy team was running 4 rounds of BNR and I was curating too. I sold one item, it was really exciting experience to be a part of this. I didn’t participate in other BNR treasuries yet, but I know many people who did and they were quite satisfied.
