Where is your hometown? We have been living in Calgary, Alberta for the past 18 years. Before that we lived in Saskatchewan as well as British Columbia. What do you like about where you live now? Calgary is in the foothills. With how the city has grown, we enjoy that the mountains are so very close. We often go to Banff & Lake Louise for a weekend as we enjoy the wildlife, the lakes and trails. In the city, dinner at the top of the Calgary tower is a real treat. We also enjoy Heritage Park, the zoo and in the summer, the Calgary Stampede. We do enjoy that our city has so many parks to go strolling in!
Tell us a little about your daily life. When I get up, I like to grab a cup of coffee, get my journal notebook and make my list for the day. My list will include projects I need to finish up, ideas for new creative items, any people I need to contact, as well as taking care of family needs. I will try list new items, and then visit the forums and chat rooms. I love shopping for new supplies. When time allows, I love baking!!! I have a very supportive family, so I am fortunate to get a lot of time for my creative ventures. In the evenings, if I am not creating, I always pop in the chat rooms! How did you get started with Etsy? In visiting the many blogs, I noticed people selling on Etsy! I thought it was such a great craft community. I signed up in 2009, but was hesitant until this past summer when I took the leap! Due to health reasons I was not working, so knew I would have the time to devote to a shop. What inspires you? Paper, Fabric, Fibres..... I love colours and textures. Whether it be a fabric store or scrap store, I have a hard time walking out with no packages in hand! Seeing different papers just gets ideas flowing in my head. I am continually amazed at all the truly talented artisians here on Etsy! How did you begin with your art? From the time I was a young girl I was always creating something. My mom bought me my first sewing machine in Gr. 7. It just evolved from there. I started making pillows, aprons, tote bags and blankets! Anything I could imagine, I would try. When my children were young, I sewed most of their clothes. I have always had a love for scrapbooking, which led me to other paper crafts. About 5 years ago, my friend Lesley got me interested in making Reborn Babies. After that, I started making Father Christmas’s. The babies and Santa’s are very time consuming, but rewarding in the end! I love to try new things! So I guess I can say “Thanks” to MOM for getting it all started! What do you do for fun? I enjoy reading, Max Lucado, John Edward. Wayne Dyer, as well as my collection of Scrapbooking magazine and books. I love being in my Scrap Corner creating. Weekends are spent having our grand daughter come for a visit. I am never idle, I am always sketching and planning something new! How would you describe your experience with Etsy? My experience has been great since being on Etsy. It is a very friendly community! I felt the love when I recently went in a chat room after being absent for a few weeks and two newly found friends, asked where I had been. I thought that was so kind of them! Giving some thought to all the items I hope to create in 2011, I have decided to move my paper crafts, and all my flowers to www.paper2roses.etsy.com in the new year! SnuggliMumCreations eventually will be devoted to my sewing projects, dolls, creating doll bassinette beds, and miscellaneous items. What advice would you give to a Etsy beginner? I am still fairly new, but I would advise them to take the leap, and not hold off like I did! It is a great place to showcase your creative talent! Are you on any Etsy teams? If so what do you like about Etsy teams? I am not currently on any Etsy teams but hope to learn more and join in. Do you sell your products on other sites, or have blogs if so list the links. I currently only sell on Etsy! You can see more of my creations at my new blog,www.mypaperrose.blogspot.com I do a bit of selling to family, friends and by word of mouth.
