iusb 760x100.7883001 Tuesday Feature this week: Naturepoet I have admired her shop for sometime. I noticed her when I began to participate in the Buy and Replace treasuries on Etsy. Normally I feature new shops to get them a little exposure but I wanted to included seasoned veterans too. She makes beautiful quilts as well as wonderful digital art. She also creates  your photos onto tile coasters. Mary has a lot of great information to share and I have learned a lot from her. I also love the vintage photos and the overall romantic feel of her shop and art. She offers so many talents. Looking at her shop makes me feel warm and cozy. Please read more about the Naturepoet. Best, see you next Tuesday BL

Little-girls-all dressed up

Where is your hometown? My hometown is in southwestern Ontario What do you like about where you live now? Tell us a little about your daily life I love living in the Grand River Valley. It is such a scenic are of Ontario. I also am a history buff, so this area gives me a lot of food for that hobby. My daily life is fairly hectic. I get up in the morning and prepare for the day. Then I list an item or two in my Etsy shop. After that, depending on the day, it's hunting for vintage treasures, taking photos for my shop, creating handmade items and doing my daily household chores. In the evening, you can usually find me on Etsy promoting my shop.

Gone fishing

How did you get started with Etsy? I had sold on ebay, but the fees were just too high. I have a blog and many of the people there were selling on Etsy. I checked it out and signed up in 2008. However, I didn't start selling there until February 2, 2010. What inspires you? Many different things inspire me. I am a collector of vintage ephemera and love the art of bygone days. Those images can usually inspire me. Nature, my grandsons or words spoken in a conversation can spark inspiration. How did you begin with your art? I have dabbled in digital art for many years. It is another medium I love. So much can be done with graphics. I had a website at one time and my love of art began there when I was searching for images to decorate my pages. Two websites actually were of great inspiration...Moonandbackgraphics and Wendysbackgrounds. What do you do for fun?

To me, playing with my art is fun. I also love spending time with my teenage grandsons. We often play board games when they come to visit. We go on nature walks during the spring, summer and fall. We also like to take day trips looking for vintage treasures. How would you describe your experience with Etsy? I have found Etsy to be a great catalyst for selling my products. Since this is my first year, I didn't know what to expect, but still set sales goals. To this point I'm right on target with those and feel I've been very successful there. I'm certainly looking forward to year two when I will again set goals. What advice would you give to a Etsy beginner? Join the Listing Club thread. It is like a family. Each member helps out the newbies and veterans alike. We stick together when things are tough and have a lot of fun together. If you sell vintage, be sure to join the vintage thread. Promotion in the forums and BNRs (Buy and Replace) are the key to getting exposure for your shop. il 570xN.193390126 Tuesday Feature this week: Naturepoet Are you on any Etsy teams? If so what do you like about Etsy teams? Yes, I'm on several Etsy teams, including the O' Canada Team, the CAST Team and the Recycle Team. The members help keep each other focused and they also encourage and support one another. Joining an Etsy team is another good way to get exposure. I know you curate BNR’s would you describe the process in a nutshell? I make the treasury with shops that have not been bought out in previous rounds. I don't require a minimum purchase and if someone buys in and don't get a sale, I include them in my next BNR. When someone buys in, their shop replaces the shop that they purchased from and something from their shop is featured in the treasury. Do you sell your products on other sites, or have blogs if so list the links. I have a blog, but don't really sell from there. Other than that, this is the only venue I sell through online. In order for my shop to be successful, I don't have time to sell in other venues. It's a big job promoting an Etsy shop, but well worth it at the end of the day.
