I planned on going through the process step by step but found this wonderful set of videos by Steven Downward. He has a series of videos that will lay out the process very nicely. You might watch the entire series as he also explains how to set up a hosting account and set your name servers. Domains and hosting. I found his site to be one of the best for WordPress information.
